PARTICIPATORY ACTION RESEARCH

In Participatory Action Research (PAR), potential consumers of research:
• Use social science methods to solve their own problems
• Are involved in every step of the research process—from definition of the problem to dissemination of the results
• Develop an agenda from collaborative, vigorous discussions based on their own experience, opinions, and what is and is not known about the problem
• Focus on testing solutions
• Proactively disseminate solutions to professionals and families
